Diary 2008

Last week I bought a very cheap diary for 2008 with a hard transparant cover (for the Dutch readers: Blokker 1 euro) and turned it into a 'scrap' diary. I made it in Elsie style and also used her paperline, a ribbon, rub-on and sticker. 2008 is made of felt. The letter A is from the Action, the ribbons, lace and fabric are from the market, the beads are from the Xenos and Blokker and the 2 buttons on the transparant cover I don't recall.

First workshop.

Last night I went to my first scrapbook workshop ever at Birgit's.

I made this lovely Winter Wonderland booklet. Birgit already had cut out the grey board snowflakes and the circles and me and the other ladies had to cover them with paint, aluminum foil and patterned paper (BG). We also had to ink 2 clear snowflakes with alcohol ink. On the front of the painted snowflake we used thick white embossing powder.

We all finished this project in less than 3 hours.

X-mas card.

Found some time this evening to make a X-mas card. Saw this workshop on Nancy's blog. She really makes very lovely cards. Check it out!

Because I only have white floss I colored it with purple ink. And instead of a third patterned paper I used a small ribbon. I made the small tag with my Cricut. I don't have those cute little pins Nancy used so I have to look for them next time I visit a scrapbookstore.

Scrap project Muiderslot.

Finished this scrap project today! Started to make it on Friday at Heidi's.
She found this cute tins with peppermints at Xenos some time ago and we decided to make a scrap project out of it.
I used Basic Grey Blush, cardstock, some felt, silver thread, little blingbling stickers, Prima flowers, ribbon, some brads and brown chalk ink.

Memories I love.

Finished this layout today.

The photo on this layout remembers me of my first vacation in France with Annik and Pierre and her sister and brother in law and their 3 kids (Marc, Philippe and Claire). I was living in France for maybe one month when we went to a very small village called Malbosc. We stayed in this very old house which was build next to the church. I have good memories about this week. Before this vacation my relationship with Annik was difficult and complicated and I felt lonely and stupid. But during this vacation we discovered that the au-pair before me had told her some lies about me. She told Annik that I had learned French at school for 6 years but in fact I had only followed a French course during 4 or 5 months prior to leave for France. Because Annik's sister married a Belgian and was living in Antwerp she learned Dutch (Flamand) and so I could tell her some things about me in my own language. So when Annik discovered that I had only followed this French course for maybe 2 hours a week during 4 or 5 months, she was so releaved. Because she thought I was really bad in languages considering the fact that I had learned French at school for 6 years, which I hadn't!
So after this discovery she became very nice to me and was much more patient when I was looking for the right French words. I loved working for her and taking care of Pierre.
And during this vacation I started to love France.

Long time ago

Yesterday I made this layout with a photo that I took 30 years ago. It was right before I went back to the Netherlands after I had spent about 17 months in France working as an au-pair in Paris. Ile Tudy is a small village in Bretagne. I spend one whole week in a rented house with the boy I took care off for all those months. His name is Pierre.

I loved being in Bretagne although the weather can be very rough up there! This photo was taken in July! It was nice spending some time with Pierre alone before I had to leave. I really got attached to him you see!

Anyways, I found this photo and wanted to make a layout with it. I'm not sure if I should add some more stuff to this page. I know, I always feel a bit insecure about my layouts ....

I was inspired by a layout by Sheila Doherty I saw in CK of november 2007, p. 50.

The light blue swirl is self made, I painted and slightly covered it with 'glitters'.

Little boys ...

... should never be sent to bed; they wake up a day older. Sigh...., years fly by!
Made this layout with a photo of Zander when he was 2 years old. I remember it was just after we went to Switzerland to stay there for a couple of weeks with friends, who lived not far from Geneva. Zander never wanted to sleep in the afternoon but one day he fell asleep on his big polar bear and because it was so special I took this photo of him. Doesn't he look cute?!

I started this layout on wednesday when I went to Birgit's crop for the first time. I have to get used to working with more people around me (lots of distractions) but it was fun and I'm going to do this more often.

Scraplift

Finished another scraplift today. It's from Limetart, an Australian site. The layout is made by Mel Nunn and this is the original.
I'm not completely satisfied with my layout, so maybe I'll make some changes to it.

My energy level is very low at the moment. I even have a sore spot on my lip, I think they call it herpes. Never had it before but Zander has had it quite often when he was much younger.
I suppose I go to bed way too late, but every time I go to bed early I just can't sleep. My muscles ache too. This time of year just isn't my thing, although I like the colors of Fall, especially when it's a sunny day!
The pond you see on the picture is close to my home. When I was a kid we (my parents, brother and I) used to make a walk to this pond on Sundays. Nowadays, I like to go there on my bike when it's a nice and sunny day and I need a quite place to contemplate.

Layout Muiderslot

** Edited: added some pink and green foam flowers! **

Yesterday I went to see Heidi for the second time. This time we actually started to work on a layout! We decided to do a scraplift from Ief & Wil.

I used 3 pictures I and Tomazina took at Muiden last weekend when Zander and I visited Muiderslot with Nel and Tomazina.

I discovered it is fun to scrap with another person around. It was Heidi who gave me the idea to use board from a box for the tag. She also had chipboard letters I copied on pink felt. The { } (what's the proper English name?) I cut randomly out of a double folded piece of felt.

For the doodles on the left I got inspired by a new book I bought yesterday (before I went to Heidi's): Doodles 100% van jou! (translation: Doodles 100% by you!) by Marieke Blokland.

The paperline I used for this layout is from Basic Grey: Periphery.
